Career Transition & Coaching with STUFF
STUFF has more than 21 different business units based across New Zealand
STUFF – previously Fairfax Media, established its operations in New Zealand in 2003. A subsidiary of Australian company Nine Entertainment Co. Stuff has more than 21 different business units based across New Zealand in locations that include Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Nelson, Christchurch, Timaru, Wesport, Dunedin and Invercargill.
In 2013 STUFF (then Fairfax Media) ran a broad change programme across several departments due to a decrease in print advertising and to bring about greater cost efficiencies. In all more than 300 employees were affected.
Appointing CDL on an exclusive basis, CDL provided a combination of one on one career transition coaching for senior staff with workshops and follow up coaching for those in less senior positions. CDL was able to also assist more mature employees who sought retirement advice as a relevant alternative to outplacement.
Since then, CDL has worked closely with STUFF across the country with various redundancies and site/publication closures. Providing comprehensive outplacement support has ensured that our affected employees are not left without ongoing support, direction and ensure they are well placed professionally to pursue next steps.
Many employees had worked for the business for 15 years or more and were understandably concerned about their future opportunities. CDL acted with complete empathy in addressing the needs of our people, helping them to transition the change while providing just the right level of practical advice.
